The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix 2020 is unfortunately canceled due to the corona pandemic. In a tennisnet special, we look back with our partner Porsche in exclusive interviews and detailed articles on the most beautiful stories of the past years.

Anke Huber - 2 titles (1991 and 1994)

The first German home victory at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix - at that time still held in Filderstadt - came in 1991. Anke Huber won the final set in the tiebreak of the third set - and defeated a series winner at PTGP: Martina Navratilova. Three years later Huber was able to cheer again, but this time the former number four in the world had to fight much less. She only left her opponent Mary Pierce six wins.

Kim Clijsters - 2 titles (2002 and 2003)

The next lady to win a spot on this list is Kim Clijsters. She too won two titles at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, and she too was successful at the old venue in Filderstadt. The Belgian, who recently made headlines with her comeback, made her two titles in a row. In 2002 and 2003, when she was able to bring down Daniela Hantuchova and Justine Henin in three movements.

Justine Henin - 2 titles (2007 and 2010)

Kim Clijsters also prevented Justine Henin from being at the top of this list. Because Clijsters' compatriot can also claim two title holders at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. Unlike Clijsters, she won her titles in Stuttgart. While Henin's first triumph was another favorite win - the Belgian had entered the tournament as number one in the world - Henin knew how to surprise at title number two when she was able to defeat three better-ranked players.

Angelique Kerber - 2 titles (2015 and 2016)

Even the most successful German tennis player of recent years, Angelique Kerber, can be found on this list. Because she too can call herself a double winner of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. Kerber won her first title in 2015 when she managed to beat Caroline Wozniacki 7-5 in the final set in a final thriller. The three-time Grand Slam winner had significantly fewer problems a year later when she was able to defeat compatriot Laura Siegemund in two sets in the only purely German final in the history of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.

Lindsay Davenport - 3 titles (2001, 2004 and 2005)

Another former number one in the world on this list has one more Porsche Tennis Grand Prix title than its pioneers. Her name: Lindsay Davenport. The American first triumphed in 2001 with a two-set success over Justine Henin. In 2004 and 2005 there were twice the same final pairing - and twice the same winner. Davenport met Amelie Mauresmo in the Filterstadt final on both occasions - both times the three-time Grand Slam winner left the court as the winner.

Maria Sharapova - 3 titles (2012, 2013 and 2014)

# IMG7 #

A woman who just announced the end of her career a few weeks ago also managed three titles: Maria Sharapova. And Sharapova, she can look back on three particularly glorious years in Stuttgart. Because the Russian was three times en suite in the final of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix - and emerged from all three as a sovereign winner. After title number two, the connection to main sponsor Porsche became even more intimate, since 2013 Maria Sharapova has been the car manufacturer's brand ambassador.

Tracy Austin - 4 titles (1978, 1979, 1980 and 1981)

# IMG5 #

The next lady on this list has accomplished a feat that no player has yet been able to imitate. Tracy Austin was the only athlete to win four Porsche Tennis Grand Prix titles en suite - right at the first four events of the WTA event. From 1978 to 1981 it was the American woman who was allowed to travel home with the title in her luggage, two of which she won in the final against 18-time Grand Slam winner Martina Navratilova.

Martina Hingis - 4 titles (1996, 1997, 1999 and 2000)

# IMG10 #

Another winner on this list is Martina Hingis, who also won four titles in Filterstadt. And if Hingis hadn't surprisingly failed due to Dominique Monami in 1998, who knows, she might even have got five titles in a row. Because in 1996 and 1997 and 1999 and 2000 Hingis created two titles en suite. The Swiss struggled hardest in her first final when she was able to prevent Anke Huber from winning her third home victory.

Martina Navratilova - 6 titles (1982, 1983, 1986, 1987, 1988 and 1992)

# IMG6 #

The undisputed number one on this list is one of the greatest players in the history of women's tennis. We are of course talking about Martina Navratilova. The American was in Filterstadt in eight finals - and won six of them. Navratilova triumphed for the first time in 1982 when she was able to retaliate for Tracy Austin for two defeats in the final. Navratilova won her last title at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix exactly ten years later, in 1992.
