Nick Kyrgios started well in Atlanta

Nick Kyrgios doesn't want to know anything about European sand, especially not after the grass season. The man from Canberra announced this on Twitter a few days ago. He wasn't really in the mood for the Olympics either - no fans wouldn't bring out the best in him. So Kyrgios has already set out for North America. And serves at the ATP Tour 250 tournament in Atlanta.

On Monday Kyrgios tried his hand at doubles with Jack Sock - also someone who has played little tennis in the last few months - and on Tuesday evening (local time) he also played singles. Against Kevin Anderson, the two-time finalist in a Grand Slam tournament. Anderson won the tournament in Newport just a few days ago, but on grass there. Kyrgios' last appearance also took place on grass, at Wimbledon he had to pay tribute to his long break against Félix Auger-Aliassime and retired after the second set.

Raonic and Sinner top the seeding list

In Atlanta, of course, only two winning sets are played, Kyrgios defeated Anderson 7: 6 (4) and 6: 3. The next opponent will again be a man for whom things are going very well at the moment: Cameron Norrie won his first tournament on the ATP tour last weekend in Los Cabos.

Milos Raonic is the tournament favorite in the race in Atlanta, Jannik Sinner, who actually wanted to start at the Olympic Games, starts as number two.
