Dennis Novak's good run continues, Peter Gojowczyk's has been interrupted for the time being. Novak, who reached the final at the ATP Challenger tournament in Orleans last week and lost to Henri Laaksonen there, won the Austro-German duel against Gojowczyk in Mouilleron-le-Captif 6: 3, 4: 6 and 6 : 2. In round two, Novak will play against Sweden's Elias Ymer, who won against Lucas Pouille in two sets.

With a score of 5: 2 in the third set, Novak already had two match points, Gojowczyk was able to fend off with his own serve. But after 90 minutes of play, Dennis Novak left the field as the winner.

The number one of the tournament, Benjamin Bonzi, was surprisingly eliminated on Tuesday against the German qualifier Mats Rosenkranz. The next contender for the title is Czech Jiri Vesely, Gojowczyk entered the event as number three.
