"We are more than satisfied with the outcome of this year's event. There are often unsustainable problems facing major sporting events," said Adam Hoff, Event Director of the ATP Finals. "We still want to take another step next year and achieve an even better result."

Already in the previous year, ATP made sure to increasingly do without plastic at the year-end tournament. 60,000 plastic cups were withdrawn from the market compared to the previous year, and reusable containers were used instead. There were also no plastic sleeves for the 310 freshly strung rackets that were prepared for the players.

The food left over at the finals at the end of the day moved to care and homeless institutions. In this way, 2,000 meals were saved from disposal, which corresponds to a CO2 equivalent of 3.25 tons.

The ATP Finals 2019 also raised £ 10,000 in cancer research in the UK.
