At first it almost looked as if Daniil Medvedev had little desire for this match, in which he was still about 200 points for the world rankings and a prize money of 153,000 US dollars - but that no longer had any influence on the situation that the Russian had to play against Rafael Nadal on Saturday at 9 p.m. (live on Sky and in our live ticker). Medvedev kept the rallies as short as possible and hit the win early on. But as it is these days in London: It works for Daniil Medvedev. And so most of his balls hit the left or right of Diego Schwartzman. Who will leave London without a win.

Medvedev, on the other hand, has a mammoth task ahead of him with Nadal: There have been three games against the Spanish grandmaster so far, all of which went to Nadal. Last year at the ATP Finals, Medvedev was allowed to sniff at victory, with a score of 5: 1 in the third set even had a match point. And still lost. Nadal was able to defeat Andrey Rublev in the group stage and Stefanos Tsitsipas on Thursday, even with the defeat against Dominic Thiem the 20-time major champion cut a good figure.

Thiem will play the first semi-final against world number one Novak Djokovic on Saturday (from 3 p.m. live on Sky and in our live ticker). Medvedev had defeated him in two sets in the group stage.
