ATP Finals: Alexander Zverev in a group with defending champion Medvedev

Olympic champion Alexander Zverev avoids top favorite Novak Djokovic in the preliminary round of the ATP Finals in Turin (from November 14th).

That was the result of the draw for the last highlight of the tennis season on Thursday evening.

Zverev meets defending champion Daniil Medvedev (Russia), Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini (Italy) and debutant Hubert Hurkacz (Poland) in the red group.

Djokovic with Tsitsipas

World number one Djokovic (Serbia), who has already won the season finale five times and also won the dress rehearsal at the Masters in Paris on Sunday, gets it in the Green Group with Stefanos Tsitsipas (Greece), Andrey Rublev (Russia) and Casper Ruud (Norway) to do.

After twelve years in London, the tournament of the eight best players of the year will take place in Turin for the first time.Zverev had triumphed over Djokovic in the final in 2018 , and Medvedev prevailed last year.

Zverev had only played against Medvedev in the semifinals in Paris last week, but had no chance here at 2: 6, 2: 6.

Kevin Krawietz qualified in doubles

In doubles, the two-time French Open winner Kevin Krawietz (Coburg) competes alongside the Romanian Horia Tecau. The duo will play in the preliminary round against the Olympic champions Nikola Mektic / Mate Pavic (Croatia), Marcel Granollers / Horacio Zeballos (Spain / Argentina) and Ivan Dodig / Filip Polasek (Croatia / Slovakia).

Krawietz is at the season finale for the third time in a row; in the past two years he has played with his regular partner Andreas Mies.
