There are now nine matches that Daniil Medvedev has won at the ATP Finals in a row. And the change of location from London to Turin and thus to a slightly faster underground doesn't seem to bother the second in the world rankings. Medvedev defeated Casper Ruud 6: 4 and 6: 2 and will play either Novak Djokovic or Alexander Zverev in the final on Sunday.

Admittedly, Medvedev's winning streak could have ended in the group stage. The man from Moscow had to go into the tie-break of the third set against both Zverev and Jannik Sinner, the Italian even found a match point. And Medvedev also had to cover the full distance in his opening game against Hubert Hurkacz.

Medvedev is defeated by Djokovic in Paris-Bercy

Ruud, on the other hand, only qualified for participation in the semi-finals yesterday Friday with a three-set win against Andrey Rublev. After losing the first set, in which Medvedev was able to defend an early break without any problems, Ruud had to give up his serve in the second act at 2-2. The renewed break to 5: 2 then finally set the course for victory for the defending champion.

Daniil Medvedev only recently played against his potential final opponent: Against Zverev, as mentioned, in the group stage, against Novak Djokovic in the Paris-Bercy final. There, however, the industry leader was too strong for his first pursuer in the ATP charts.
