Nine million dollars in prize money - that's what's going to be paid out to players in London in the ATP final, including those professionals who are available in singles ($ 116,000) and doubles ($ 40,000 per pair) as substitute candidates put. In the best case, $ 2,871,000 will be paid out when one of the eight individual starters scores unbeaten for the title.

These sums have to be brought back for the first time, as the viewer revenue has long since ceased to play the biggest role. Even though in theory more than 35,000 tickets could be sold per group match day, 17,800 each for the afternoon and evening sessions. The biggest source of income lies more in the TV stations that carry the good customer out into the wide world.

There is still advertising potential

And of course also with the sponsors, not just the eponymous. Basically, the entire game operation is marketed: This starts with the ball kids who run in the name of a sponsor. The coin toss has caught a large American company, the two children who accompany the players on the court, do so in the name of a generous donor.

However, the sheet is still not fully exhausted: So the aces are accompanied with a visual and acoustic appeal, because something could go in terms of presenter. Even the back of Stuhlreferees is still free - especially as they march in front of the players at the finals. The exchange breaks, however, are durchgetaktet advertising. No comparison to the biblical silence that reigns a few miles further on the sacred turf of Wimbledon.
