Dominic Thiem gave the all-clear after a 6: 7 (3), 3: 6 defeat to Matteo Berrettini. He was even better off than in the match against Novak Djokovic.

Dominic Thiem is confident for Saturday

Had the Austrian tennis fans Dominc Thiem seen at his press conference after losing to Matteo Berrettini: They would have had cause for concern. The Austrian, since a hit against Novak Djokovic already qualifying for the semi-finals on Saturday, sat thickly muffled and wearing a hat on the podium. To answer the very first German-speaking question: "You do not have to worry about me."

In fact, he would have felt physically better against Berrettini than in the epic match against Novak Djokovic. On the other hand, a further three-sentence thriller was not included in the program, the 76-minute season took Thiem just with. The tension was something outside, said the 26-year-old, whose voice still exuded a very sonorous timbre.

Thiem and pattern - that could become something

Health is therefore clearly in the foreground in the coming days, actually doing so since the beginning of the event. As a first consequence, Austria's number one hotel changed on Tuesday: The accommodation in the gambling hotel on the London Eye was dissolved, Thiem lives now directly at the O2 Arena, thus spared the arrival by ship, the atmosphere probably timelessly beautiful, with broken health but also a risk.

Tomorrow I will start a relaxed training session, then under the direction of father Wolfgang. Coach Nicolas Massu has been assigned by the ITF to a captains meeting for the Davis Cup final in Madrid, the Chilene returns on Saturday. This had been discussed so long, so father Thiem.

He also commented on the rumors that Thomas Muster could join the Thiem team in the future. The 1995 French Open champion will lead the Austrian team at the ATP Cup in early 2020 in Sydney against Croatia, Poland and Argentina as team boss. Muster himself said at a press conference that he was talking to the Thiems about a longer-term perspective. But that was not decided yet.

Ofner beats Novak

Wolfgang Thiem joined the same circle in the small circle of Austrian journalists. One will see what chemistry emerges in the ATP Cup between his son and Thomas Muster, if it fits humanly, of course, would not argue against extending the collaboration. Dominic Thiem can profit in every way from the experience of Muster.

Wolfgang Thiem will also be in the ATP Cup at the start, but not traveling with his son to Miami for preparation. Instead, it goes to the end of December with Sebastian Ofner and Dennis Novak directly to Australia. Thiem's two protégés played against each other today at the Challenger in Ortisei. Andner has built Novak 3: 6, 6: 3 and 7: 6 (6) in the top 100 first.
