Nothing has happened to the early qualification of Alexander Zverev for the semifinals at the ATP Finals in London 2019: The German number one Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated smoothly 3-6 and 2-6 and has to reload on Friday against Daniil Medvedev again.

The match started even though Alexander Zverev could not match his incredibly strong serve against Rafael Nadal. In the eighth game it was dangerous for Zverev for the first time, the German came with 15:40 behind. Zverev tried a serve volley, the return from Tsitsipas was too good. The Greek did not give a damn, had to defend the break yes only once to the set win. 6: 3 after 38 minutes.

Zverev on Friday against Medvedev

In this key, Zverev continued: Right in the first service match in the second round, the defending champion gave his opponent two break chances with a double penalty, then a third. Which he averted aggressively. However, opportunity number four took advantage of Tsitsipas's fourth game win in a row. The charismatic from Athens literally flew over the court, moved to the grid at every opportunity. The passes Zverevs, however, found too rarely to the finish. The break to 4: 1 caused some spectators to leave their seats a little earlier.

Anyway, Tsitsipas did not fidget around for long, closing the bag after 73 minutes of play. Although the Hawkeye Zverev still granted a short extension.

In the internal balance sheet with Zverev Stefanos Tsitsipas put on 4: 1 victories. He meets Rafael Nadal in the last group match on Friday, while Zverev faces Daniil Medvedev. Nadal had defeated the Russians in the first single match of the day after a 1-5 deficit in the third set - and thus saved the chance to progress. But even Medvedev would have a chance against the semi-final with a smooth win against Zverev. In the only Stefanos Tsitsipas and from the other group Dominic Thiem have a safe place.
