The match began for Melzer and Roger-Vasselin as desired - namely with a break. The two gave up this advantage in the fourth game. Melzer couldn't keep up his service. As always, nuances were decisive in the tie-break. After that it looked like a fairly smooth win for Ram and Salisbury, who quickly gained a break advantage. A few moments later it was 5: 3 for Melzer / Roger-Vasselin. And 30:40. But then the French conjured a half volley on the center court of the O2 Arena, which left Joe Salisbury at a loss.

In the match tie-break, Ram / Salisbury were ahead of the game from the start. At 5.1 the sides were changed for the first time, for Melzer and Roger-Vasselin there was apparently no way back after the 1: 7. Or is it? With six points in a row the equalizer succeeded to 7: 7, then Melzer nailed a forehand along the line into the field. Melzer fended off the first match point at 8: 9 with a smash while falling.

And then the left-hander himself made sure that a second Austrian next to Dominic Thiem will play for the title with a passing ball through the middle. Thiem against the winner of the game between Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev. Melzer and Roger-Vasselin against Wesley Koolhof and Nikola Mektic.
