No, it's not quite five million US dollars that Novak Djokovic can win today

According to the official ATP website, Novak Djokovic has so far brought in prize money of 159,951,008. In words: one hundred and fifty nine million, nine hundred and fifty one thousand and eight dollars. This sum suggests that Djokovic is no longer on the ATP tour for the money, after all he has taken three euros and fifty with him from his sponsors over the years. Maybe even more.

Should the 35-year-old from Belgrade win his 91st title on the tour today at the ATP Finals in Turin (from 7 p.m. live on TV and live stream on Sky and WOW), Djokovic will receive the biggest one-off payment not only of his career. But in tennis history at all.

Djokovic with perfect record against Ruud

4,740,300 US dollars have been awarded to the undefeated champion in Turin. And after Casper Ruud gave his last group game against Rafael Nadal a bit sloppy, Novak Djokovic is left to play this record prize money. The chances that he will actually win it are excellent: Djokovic has won all three previous games against Ruud, and the Norwegian is even waiting to win a set.

Now Djokovic didn't seem untouchable in the semifinals against Taylor Fritz, and before that against Daniil Medvedev. But Casper Ruud's playing system poses fewer problems for the 21-time Grand Slam champion than that of the strong servers Fritz and Medvedev. Ruud plays like Djokovic - but the latter can do everything a little better.

Incidentally, Ashleigh Barty holds the previous record for prize money: The Australian, who has since retired, received a check for 4.42 million US dollars for her triumph at the WTA Finals in Shenzhen 2019.
