Nadal suffered an abdominal muscle injury in Paris-Bercy in the run-up to the semi-final against Denis Shapovalov and had to retract a few minutes before the start of the game due to injury. Whether the Spaniard now has to pass for the ATP Finals in London, will be on Tuesday morning.
For then the 33-year-old will receive the results of a magnetic resonance imaging, which he had undergone on Monday in Mallorca. Together with his team Nadal will then decide on a participation in the last ATP tournament of the year.
Roberto Bautista Agut possible substitute
Of course, I want to go to London - that's the biggest goal, "Nadal, who had declared his 197th week as world ranking first on Monday, said in Paris. So far, the 19-time Grand Slam winner has never won the ATP Finals.
The draw for this year's edition will be on Tuesday at 14:00 CET. In addition to Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Daniil Medvedev, Dominic Thiem, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alexander Zverev and Matteo Berrettini qualified for the finals. Should Nadal cancel, Roberto Bautista Agut would be available as a substitute.
