What bad luck for Yannick Hanfmann! Last week in Bastad, the German reached the semi-finals, now he wanted to top it up in Gstaad, where he was in the final in 2017, and in Kitzbühel, where Hanfmann was only defeated in the 2020 final by Miomir Kecmanovic. Nothing will come of it. Because Hanfmann tested positive for the corona virus and must first be quarantined, as his coach Lukas Wolff explained to tennisnet.

"Yannick has received a letter from the ATP, according to which he can play again from the end of next week," said Wolff, who trains with Hanfmann at the TennisBase in Oberhaching. His protégé is already in quarantine, so far he has been fine.

Hanfmann misses the Olympic Games

Hanfmann was drawn as opponent by Dennis Novak in the first round. Austria's number two now meets Lucky Loser Kacper Zuk from Poland.

Hanfmann actually wanted to be somewhere else these days, namely at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. The fourth individual place in the German team was snatched away from him at the last minute by experienced Philipp Kohlschreiber.
