Dominic Thiem gets going in Indian Wells

Dominic Thiem continues to gain momentum in Indian Wells: after the solid performance against Jordan Thompson at the start on Saturday, the Lichtenwörther hosted a gala against Gilles Simon two days later. After only 67 minutes, Thiem was celebrated as the winner after a 6: 3 and 6: 1 and now plays against Ivo Karlovic for a place in the last eight.

The Austrian, who was in seventh place, had to give up his serve once, but in return Thiem had five breaks against the Frenchman in stage 3. In the overall balance with Simon Thiem thus 9: 2 victories.

In the round of 16 Thiem is now waiting for the playful antithesis to Gilles Simon: Ivo Karlovic prolonged his run in Indian Wells. The 40-year-old Croatian defeated the Indian Prajnesh Gunneswaran in two sets. Dominic Thiem has never played against the Croatian.
