After his opening defeat in Halle / Westphalia against Jan-Lennard Struff, Daniil Medvedev accepted a wildcard for the ATP 250 event in Mallorca in order to gain some game practice on grass before the Grand Slam tournament in Wimbledon - and thanks to his opening success With Corentin Moutet, this plan should also work out completely.

The world number two got a false start and was quickly confronted with a 1: 4 deficit in the first set. After that, Medvedev didn't let anything burn and ultimately prevailed with 6: 4 and 6: 2. In the quarter-finals he now meets Casper Ruud, who beat Tennys Sandgren 6: 3 and 6: 4.

In the double competition, however, Novak Djokovic was able to look forward to an opener success. The world number one, who only competes in doubles on the Balearic Island, won alongside Carlos Gomez-Herrera against Tomislav Brkic / Nikola Cacic after defending two match points 5: 7, 6: 4 and 13:11. The two are now up against Marcel Granollers / Horacio Zeballos, who are in first place
