Daniil Medvedev - tournament winner on Mallorca

The Mallorca Championships have their first winner - and he greeted the whole tournament week from the top of the tableau: Daniil Medvedev, actually not a specialist for the lawn, won the title in the Mallorca Country Club with a sovereign 6-4 and 6-2 against Sam Querrey. For the 25-year-old Muscovite it is the eleventh title overall, the second in the current season after the victory at the Marseille hall.

The impact, actually Querrey's biggest weapon, was the American's undoing in both sets. Because both in the break to 3: 4 in the first round as well as in the very first game in the second set, Querrey made a double mistake on breakball. And did not manage to come back against the sovereign server Medvedev. The performance of Medvedev was all the more astonishing as the world number two had already lost to Jan-Lennard Struff in round one last week in HalleWestfalen. At Wimbledon, Medvedev will face the German Davis Cup player again on Tuesday.

The number two of the 250 event, Dominic Thiem , injured his wrist in his first game against Adrian Mannarino when the score was 5: 2 in the first set and had to take a longer break.

The doubles title went to Simone Bolelli and Maximo Gonzalez, who won their semi-finals against Marcus Daniell and Philipp Oswald 6: 1 and 7: 5 on Saturday. But after Novak Djokovic and his partner Carlos Gomez Herrera did not play for the final, Bolleli / Gonzalez went home with the trophy.
