Lucas Miedler and Alexander Erler were able to put the reigning French Open champions to the test in the quarter-finals of the ATP Tour 250 tournament in Mallorca on Thursday. And Marcelo Arevalo and Jean-Julien Rojer had to admit defeat with 1: 6 and 4: 6.

Philipp Oswald and Matthew Ebden were already one round ahead, but also suffered defeats in the semifinals against Ariel Behar and Gonzalo Escobar. Ebden/Oswald lost 4:6 and 2:6. The day before, the Vorarlberger and his Australian partner had won an epic match tiebreak against Jaume Munar and Pablo Carreno Busta 18:16. Remarkable: "Both teams made 17 first serves in the tie-break," as Oswald told tennisnet.com.

Oswald to Wimbledon with a new partner

The joint appearance with Ebden, whom Oswald considers a cool guy, will remain a one-off event. Because Max Purcell, who is on course with Ebden for the ATP Finals in Turin, tried (successfully) this week to qualify for the individual tournament in Wimbledon.

Oswald will once again compete with Hans Hach Verdugo in the third major of the year. After that, the two will part ways.
