“In the first two weeks of the tournament on grass, I really wanted to play well and achieve good results. Luckily I managed to do that. I'm very happy with what I achieved at the two tournaments in Germany. After the two stressful weeks, it was great that I was able to relax a little here in Mallorca yesterday – that was exactly what I needed,” said Kyrgios, who also visited the Spanish island on a scooter on Sunday with his partner Costeen Hatzi little explored.

"I will enjoy the coming days on this beautiful island, but I will be focused on the pitch," added Kyrgios, who completed a training session at Mallorca Country Club with fellow Australian Jordan Thompson on Monday. With his strong performances in Stuttgart and Halle, Kyrgios has worked his way up the world rankings again into the top 50 up to 45th place.

Tsitsipas in action in doubles

Stefanos Tsitsipas will also be involved for the first time on Tuesday in the ATP grass tournament in Santa Ponca, which is worth 951,745 euros - not in singles, but in doubles alongside his brother Petros. Opponents of the Greeks are the reigning French Open double champions Marcelo Arevalo (El Salvador) and Jean-Julian Rojer (Netherlands). One detail on the courts caught the eye of the sixth in the world rankings: "I'm impressed by the color of the courts here. The green is much darker than anywhere else. I have no idea what that's related to, but it's very interesting and makes for a good contrast with the ball," said Tsitsipas, who is also enjoying Mallorca's amenities to the fullest.

“It's just great to be able to go for a swim in the sea in the morning and also spend some time on the beach. The fact that my family is also there makes everything even nicer. What the players are offered at the tournament in Mallorca is unique,” enthused Tsitsipas, who will meet Ilya Ivashka in his round of 16 game in singles after a bye in the opening round on Wednesday, who defeated the Finn Emil Ruusuvuori 6: 4, 6 :1 defeated.

On Wednesday, world number one Daniil Medvedev will serve for the first time at this year's tournament. The defending champion at the Mallorca Championships will face Aslan Karatsev, who defeated local Mallorcan hero Jaume Munar 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 on Sunday. Also in action on Wednesday are Canadian Denis Shapovalov, seeded number three, and Spain's number four of the tournament, Pablo Carreno Busta.
