Sinner had not drawn an easy lot with Albert Ramos-Vinolas. The Spaniard made it to the semi-finals in Marbella last week, losing to eventual winner Pablo Carreno Busta. Sinner, in turn, played his first match on clay this year in Monte Carlo. After initial problems - Ramos-Vinolas won Sinner's first serve game - the Italian won with 6: 3 and 6: 4. And won a duel with tournament favorite Novak Djokovic.
Also next is Fabio Fognini, who won the last edition of the traditional tournament in the Principality in 2019. Fognini defeated Miomir Kecmanovic 6-2 and 7-5. The next opponent will be Jordan Thomspson. Somewhat surprisingly, Lucas Pouille beat Guido Pella 6: 3 and 6: 4.
Dominik Koepfer is eliminated. The German number three was defeated by the semi-finalist of the French Open 2018, Marco Cecchinato, with 4: 6 and 3: 6.
