At an apparel sponsor event in London, Andy Murray (ATP 125) recently gave insights into his condition since his tournament break just two weeks ago. At home with his wife Kim, his two daughters and son Teddy, who was born just a few weeks ago, the 32-year-old Briton is loading his batteries. While Murray says he gained a bit of body weight during his time out, he still feels that the family and his two dogs are well on their way to a new start in 2020. "It was good," said the three-time Grand Slam champion of the British press present for his recent break. /

Murray is confident that he will be able to meet the requirements of the Best of Five competition in January at the Australian Open as well as in two-award-winning tournaments. The Australian Open has been planned since his hip replacement as the first Grand Slam competition since his return. "I'm not worried from the hip point of view as I have not had any problems so far, so I do not expect that playing an extra 45 minutes or an hour will be bad for my hip," he said. "My physiotherapist has always been more positive about playing grand slams than participating in a tournament where you play five days in a row, I think my body has shown that I'll be able to play at a high level, I have to be smart in my planning. "

"Competitive would be a success"

Murray, who had climbed to 88th place this year after being reclassified to the June ranking in June with an ATP tournament victory in Antwerp, also described his goals for the near future in London. "Whether I'm 30th or 70th in the world rankings, if I still enjoy the preparations and the training and all of those things and I feel competitive, that would be a success."
