There were times - and they weren't even that long ago - when Novak Djokovic seemed vulnerable. In Indian Wells, for example, then in Miami, and also in Monte Carlo. Philipp Kohlschreiber knew how to use this at the first ATP Masters 1000 tournament this year in the California desert, celebrating his second success against the industry leader. The world order in tennis has now been restored; Djokovic plays almost as convincingly as at the Australian Open earlier this year. The last piece of evidence: the appearance on Thursday evening against Philipp Kohlschreiber, who Djokovic ended after 6 minutes with 6: 3 and 6: 0.

Djokovic moved into the last eight in Rome, meeting Juan Martin del Potro in the quarter-finals on Friday, who beat Casper Ruud in two sets.

Kohlschreiber and Djokovic, like most of the round of 16, had to play a match in the afternoon, both of whom solved their task with flying colors. In the third encounter of the year, however, Novak Djokovic had no problems continuing his winning streak on ashes after the triumph in Madrid the previous week. The man from Belgrade moved too well, Djokovic played too forcefully when Kohlschreiber became too short. At least he was able to console himself with the fact that he had previously knocked out a local hero and the semi-finalists of the French Open 2018 with Marco Cecchinato.

While Novak Djokovic continues to play against del Potro for the tournament win in Rome on Friday, Philipp Kohlschreiber has also mentioned for a tournament before the French Open: next week in Geneva.
