A hard piece of work that Stefanos Tsitsipas had to do with Egor Gerasimov. The Australian Open finalist did not know how to convince against Gerasimov, also in the semi-finals last week in Montüellier, over the entire season. However, he still made it into lap two, where he meets Hubert Hurkacz from Poland.

In the middle of the first set, Der Schläger von Tsitsipas had to endure the favorite's frustration for a short time: Tsitsipas took a 3-2 lead with a break, but was unable to confirm the break despite a 40-0 on his own serve. Almost the same game in round two: This time the number two of the tournament took a 3-1 lead - and again failed to serve. After almost two hours it already looked like another tie-break, but Tsitsipas used the match point to 7: 6 (4) and 7: 5 after a great defensive rally.

Earlier on Tuesday, Stan Wawrinka had to say goodbye to the deserted hall in Rotterdam. The Swiss lost to Karen Khachanov 4: 6 and 5: 7. The two French Ugo Humbert and Jeremy Chardy ran a marathon, with the veteran Chardy finally winning 4: 6, 7: 6 (5) and 7: 6 (4).

On Wednesday tournament favorite Daniil Medvedev against Dusan Lajovic, Alexander Zverev against Alexander Bublik and Jan-Lennard Struff against David Goffin intervene in the game in Rotterdam.
