On Monday after Rafael Nadal's historic triumph at the French Open, the next stop of the ATP's traveling circus, which was quite crazy at the time of COVID-19, starts in Moscow. In addition to St. Petersburg, tennis at ATP level will also be played this week in the Lanxess Arena in Cologne and in Sardinia, but the tournament in Russia is the only one in the ATP-500 category that is on the program this week.

Now the organizers from St. Petersburg have reported a first setback, as it became known on Monday morning that there was a positive COVID-19 case at the ATP event in Russia. "After a positive test result on Sunday, a player was taken out of the tournament grid," wrote the players' association on Twitter.

The local health authorities are now closely monitoring the condition of the player, but currently there are no symptoms. Contact tracing was also initiated to determine whether there were players or supervisors who had close contact with the player. The name of the COVID-19 case was not disclosed.
