In 2021, Andreas Mies had to take a long break due to a knee injury, after his return to Toronto in the summer, the Cologne-based competitor competed with various partners: First with Andrey Golubev, then with Austin Krajicek, Félix Auger-Aliassime, Matwe Middelkoop or Fabrice Martin. On the other hand, Krawietz found a temporary partner in Horia Tecau early on, with whom he was ultimately able to qualify for the ATP Finals.
In Sydney, the two-time French Open Champions will now appear together for the first time since the ATP Finals in London 2020. At that time, "Kramies" were eliminated from the group stage. The comeback was successful after a bye with the 6: 7 (2), 6: 4 and 10: 5 against Middelkoop and the Austrian Philipp Oswald.
Krawietz and Mies are third in Sydney, with Hans Hach Verdugo and Facundo Bagnis in the quarter-finals.
