Actually, the two ATP Tour 250 tournaments should have taken place in Marrakech and Houston in the week from April 5, 2021. The latter was canceled entirely due to the corona pandemic, and Marrakech was postponed to a later date in the year for the time being. Instead, the male tennis professionals can now groove their way on European sand in Marbella. And in Cagliari on the island of Sardinia, as the ATP announced on Saturday.

It is already the second time that Cagliari has stepped in as an organizer at relatively short notice: In autumn 2020, after the resumption of operations, venues for men's tournaments were sought, the Italians raised their hands and played parallel to the indoor events in Cologne and St. Petersburg by 250 ATP points. It almost even worked out with a home win - Marco Cecchinato had to admit defeat to Laslos Djere from Serbia in the final.
