Daniel Altmaier showed himself to be very, very strong at the ATP World Tour 250 event in Umag, Croatia: The man from Kempen, who had previously successfully fought his way through the qualification, survived a sensational 6: 2, 6: 4 success the Serbian Dusan Lajovic, who was seeded two in Istria, surprisingly in the semifinals. After 1:32 hours of playing time, the 22-year-old German was able to look forward to his first participation in the semifinals at ATP Tour level.

Altmaier had never made it past a quarter-finals in his career so far at the highest level. Now the current world ranking 152 gets it. to do with Richard Gasquet - with all due respect, a big name that has seen better days. In the head-to-head of the two opponents, however, it is 1-0 for the French. In the first round of this year's clay court tournament in Parma, Italy, the 15-time tournament winner prevailed 6: 3, 6: 3.

Also in the round of the last four is the title favorite Albert Ramos-Vinolas. The first seeded Spaniard cleared the Italian Stefano Travagilia with 6: 2, 6: 1. The Catalan will now meet either his compatriot C Alcaraz or the Serb Filip Krajinovic. The game wasn't over at the time of going to press.
