Rafael Nadal continues to worry Australian tennis fans: after beating James Duckworth, the Spaniard, who was second in the rankings, also made short work of Matthew Ebden. The score was 6: 3, 6: 2 and 6: 2 after less than two hours of play. Ebden had defeated the German Davis Cup player Jan-Lennard Struff in lap one after a large gap.

Although the Australian tried to take the initiative as often as possible, Ebden acted on the network too rarely enough. Nadal always found opportunities to make the points on the defensive. Roger Federer, the potential semi-final opponent for Nadal, had to fight much harder in his match against Daniel Evans despite the three-set success.

In round three, Nadal will face either Alex de Minaur or Henri Laaksonen. The two fought a big fight in parallel, which was decided only in the fifth set.
