It was a relaxed gallop that Ekaterina Yashina could demand from the former Wimbledon winner Angelique Kerber on Monday in Bad Homburg. The German showed no nakedness against their Russian opponent, after a clear 6: 1 in the first round, a further 6: 1 and thus made it into the round of 16. There it is now against Anna Blinkova.

On the other hand, the first appearance of the top seeded lady in Bad Homburg was much closer. The Czech Petra Kvitova made a bad start against Katarzyna Piter and lost the first round 4: 6. With 6: 1 Kvitova managed to equalize the set, in the third round the world number twelfth finally prevailed 6: 4. In the round of 16 it is now against the American Ann Li, who had no problems with the young German Anna Zaja.

Three DTB aces in the round of 16

With Angie Kerber's opening win, four DTB aces are in the round of the last 16. Andrea Petkovic, Tamara Korpatsch and Laura Siegemund had already bought their round of 16 ticket. The latter two, however, had to go over three sets, Korpatsch only put the lid on in the tie-break of the third round.
