Inspiration Federer: role model, rival, friend, game changer

Roger Federer moved far more than just the tennis ball: Federer's games were THE tennis events of recent years, and Federer as a person radiated far beyond what was happening on the court. Simon Graf, sports editor at the Schweizer Tages-Anzeiger for more than 25 years, has often met and spoken to Federer, a few years ago he already published a slightly different biography about Federer .

In Inspiration Federer , Graf sheds light on Federer's influences on others together with his British colleague Simon Cambers. "When I wrote a report in Wimbledon in 2015 about queuing and staying in Wimbledon Park for 28 hours, including staying in a tent there, I met so many Federer fans," Graf tells tennisnet . "Practically everyone who was queuing for tickets did so because of him. And everyone had their own story. So I thought: At some point I have to tell these stories. But of course not only those of fans, but also those of friends, rivals, coaches and many others whose lives were shaped by Roger. The exciting thing is: everyone has something very personal that has particularly touched them. These different encounters have illuminated the fascination with Federer in a completely different way."

Inspiration Federer: Role Model, Rival, Friend, Gamechanger has been published by the Wortseh publishing house. Among others, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Toni Nadal, Marco Chiudinelli, Marc Rosset, Paul Annacone, Coco Gauff, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Ons Jabeur, Matteo Berrettini, Heinz Günthardt, John Bercow, Mats Wilander and Stan Smith will have their say.

Angelique Kerber: A question of will: My way up

She is the most successful German tennis player since Steffi Graf - with three Grand Slam victories and the jump to first place in the world tennis rankings. But Angelique Kerber's path to the top was on the brink several times. Now, during her pregnancy break from competitive tennis, "Angie" has submitted her autobiography. Above all, Kerber takes you to the crucial moments of your career: the time of ascent, the thoughts of an early retirement after a crisis in 2011 and the subsequent breakthrough to the top of the world. The highlights, of course: her victory at the Australian Open 2016, the Olympic Games in Rio, the jump to first place in the ranking, the US Open victory in 2016 and the Wimbledon triumph in 2018.

The great doubts that Kerber harbors become clear again and again. "They appear on the uninvited guests who want to torpedo the hitherto cheerful garden party," she writes. "Doubts are not tangible. That's what makes them so dangerous." And they are prone to it, even after actually good results. An exciting look into the mind of a player who has so far revealed very little about herself. That makes the book all the more worth reading!

Wild Card: Mastering challenges mentally

In 2016, Laura Siegemund completed her distance learning degree in psychology - after that she really took off in tennis! Together with the mental coach and sports scientist Prof. Dr. Stefan Brunner has now written to Siegemund about top performance and success - and how to get there. Because pressure, stress and other extremes do not always make it easy to get the best out of yourself on the tennis court and in "normal" life and to retrieve it in important moments.

Siegemund shows examples of her own matches and tournaments in which she has done just that. In an effort to give the reader some tips to win even more matches and be successful in life.

Wild Card: Mastering challenges mentally , by Laura Siegemund and Stefan Brunner, is published by Meyer & Meyer Verlag.
