He would have given himself a break from Munich for four years, announced double legend Leander Paes, four years during which he had hoped that the weather would be a little more south-oriented. But so the Indian was also righteously weatherproof on one of the training courses at MTTC Iphitos this Tuesday. And made an appointment for lunch between two serves with Philipp Oswald, the only Austrian starter this week. Most recently, Paes played in a duet with Jürgen Melzer in Munich.

Alexander Zverev prefers the show court directly at the clubhouse for his training sessions, on Tuesday the German number one visitor came: Boris Becker, who has been a member of the tennis association Zverev for years, treated himself to a few rallies between Zverev and Karen Khachanov. And then also the first two sets of Rudolf Molleker against Marius Copil on Court 1. What Becker saw must have made the three-time Wimbledon winner confident, Molleker finally won in three sets. Alexander Zverev and Karen Khachanov, on the other hand, left the training center equally dissatisfied.

Zverev starts against Londero

The Russian, placed second in the BMW Open behind Zverev, moved a few places straight away and let his coach pass balls out of his hand in order to get into a better rhythm of the game. Sascha Zverev, on the other hand, made a young fan happy who can go home with a number three hand-signed bat. In addition, one of a kind: Zverev had beautifully disassembled the racket, the aggressiveness of the defending champion was right even before the first appearance.

Zverev will do it in front of a full house, the May holiday in Munich is traditionally sold out. Zverev will be allowed to run from 1:30 p.m. The opponent will be Juan Ignacio Londero, a man who could fall into the "annoying" category. Londero allowed himself a short low against Maximilian Marterer in round two, but in the end he moved very securely into the second round.

Not a French winner

At the same time as Londero and Marterer, Diego Schwartzman and Benoit Paire opened the center court, the Frenchman after what was reported to be an extremely short break-in period. Schwartzman prevailed in three sets, meeting Christian Garin on Wednesday. Paire is allowed to move a little house again, and no Frenchman will win the title in Munich in 2019 either.

For this, Gael Monfils has always been intended in recent years. But he was much less open-minded about the tournament in Munich than Leander Paes, for example. And no longer received an invitation from the Presenting Sponsor of the 2019 tournament. Monfils is offering its services this week in Estoril.
