The two were honored in a ceremony on the edge of the Australian Open on Center Court. Next July they will be officially inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, USA.

Both have won a single title at Wimbledon in their active careers and came second in the world rankings. Both Martinez and Ivanisevic are active as trainers. Martinez trains the increasingly active Garbine Muguruza, while Goran Ivanisevic is part of the Novak Djokovic team.

Ivanisevic is the first Croatian to make it into the Tennis Hall of Fame. Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario, Manuel Santana and Manuel Alonso are already home to some former stars from Spain.

"We are delighted that both Goran Ivanisevic and Conchita Martinez have been inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame. Both have always represented themselves, their home country and tennis as a whole and deserve this ultimate award," said Stan Smith, president of Tennis Hall of Fame, cited.

"It is a huge honor. Especially that I am now seen as a big part of tennis history. I am extremely grateful for that," said Martinez.

Ivanisevic joined: "I am proud and honored to be the first Croatian in the Hall of Fame. Thanks to the committee and the fans who voted for me in the voting."
