Who has already forgotten about the winter: Six nations have already been selected as participants for the Davis Cup final tournament in November 2019. These are the semi-finalists of the past season (Croatia, France, Spain and the USA) and two teams, because according to their own ITF logic they have received a wild card for the event in Madrid: Argentina and Great Britain.

The remaining twelve starting places will be fought over the entire globe, but with limited participation of the top stars: Rafael Nadal does not have to, Novak Djokovic does not travel to Uzbekistan. While the Spaniard likes the new format, Djokovis is more likely to take the November off after the ATP finals.

Russia with a full chapel

Dominic Thiem has reported sick, Austria is not available against Chile. Kei Nishikori wished the Japanese team good luck for the trip to China, as did Roger Federer and his team at home against the Russians. They bring the full chapel with them: Karen Khachanov, Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev.

After Juan Martin del Potro could not even play for wildcard reasons if he really could, and Kevin Anderson is not in the raffle for a spot for Madrid with the South Africans, there will be exactly one top ten next Friday and Saturday Players at the start: Alexander Zverev. He meets Hungary on the side of Philipp Kohlschreiber, but has repeatedly said that he has no desire to participate in the final tournament.

Not good starting conditions for the "Davis Cup new".
