Here is the explanation:

"After consulting his doctor, Univ. Doz. Dr. Johann Pidlich, we had to make the decision today that Dominic cannot play against Chile. We have already informed Captain Stefan Koubek and thank him expressly for his understanding.

Regarding Dominic's state of health, Dr. Pidlich gave the all-clear yesterday after the first in-depth investigations: Dominic will very soon regain his old performance and, above all, the health necessary for a top athlete. Further investigations will follow in the next few days. The main focus will be to analyze Dominics' problems in Tenerife and Melbourne in detail and to take appropriate measures.

According to Dr. Pidic time for complete regeneration, above all he has to allow himself rest and avoid great physical exertion - and therefore especially competitions.

This week Dominic is on Dr. Don't train Pidlich's advice. In all likelihood he can - and after further consultation with Dr. Pidlich - start with light training next week and return to the tour after the current status in Buenos Aires.

Dominic will keep his fingers crossed for the Austrian team, as far as the further examination appointments allow and the team so wishes, on site in Salzburg or in any case in front of the TV.

I ask for your understanding that Dominic himself and Dr. Pidlich are currently not available for comments. We'll get in touch with a short update in the middle of next week. "

Stefan Koubek will probably nominate Jurij Rodionov

Team principal Stefan Koubek will no longer have his safest point option. In addition to Thiem, Dennis Novak was set as a single player, instead of Thiem Koubek will now probably choose youngster Jurij Rodionov as second man for Friday. For the double on Saturday, Koubek can choose from the trio Oliver Marach, Philipp Oswald and Jürgen Melzer.

Rodionov and Novak are currently in action at the ATP Challenger in Rennes, as is Jürgen Melzer at Filip Polasek's side. Rodionov beat Adrian Mannarino's favorite on Wednesday, while Novak was eliminated. Melzer and Polasek were also able to prevail against the number one pairing in Rennes. Last week in Koblenz the two were in the final.
