Gael Monfils (France), ninth in the world rankings, was the first participant to give his acceptance.

The current industry leader Novak Djokovic had already announced a week ago that they would be organizing an "Adria Tour" from mid-June to early July through the Balkan countries. Thiem and German star player Alexander Zverev also take part in the Serbian tour.

In contrast to Djokovic, who will donate the proceeds of his event to various charities, Thiem is awarding a total of 300,000 euros in prize money for his tournament. "The aim is to offer the players matches under competitive conditions that can be simulated least during training," Thiem's father Wolfgang was quoted in the announcement by the organizers.

Thiem is currently at the start of the Generali Austrian Pro Series , which is taking place in Vienna.

For Thiem, Kitzbühel is another home game: he won the Generali Open in Kitzbühel in 2019, being the first Austrian since Thomas Muster.
