Dominic Thiem apparently struggles with motivation problems

The start of the season was anything but as desired for Dominic Thiem. The Austrian never made it past the quarter-finals in any tournament, and most recently the 27-year-old even lost an opening defeat in Dubai. Rumors of a possible injury made the rounds, which did not decrease after Thiem's cancellation for the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Monte Carlo.

As could be heard from several corners of the team, Thiem is currently not struggling with physical problems. "He still needs some rest in his head, has to get it free," explained Wolfgang Thiem. The corona pandemic with all its disadvantages is troubling Lichtenwörther, and he had already declared before the tournament in Dubai that after his triumph at the US Open he had to be clear about a few things .

Thiem wants to come back in Belgrade

For this reason, Thiem also refrained from tennis training in the past two weeks and instead focused on regeneration. "I don't think he's going to watch the tournament in Miami either," said his father.

In the coming days, however, the Austrian will return to the court to prepare for the ATP 250 tournament in Belgrade, which begins on April 19. In the Serbian capital, Thiem should then make a new start after a messed up first quarter of the season.
