Donna Vekic had already struggled with knee problems at the Australian Open

Already in her round of 16 against the future finalist Jennifer Brady at the Australian Open, it was obvious that Donna Vekic was struggling with problems on her right knee. The Croatian then took action and had an operation last week.

In the "small knee operation" everything went well, Vekic told her followers on Instagram. "I already started the rehab today and I'm looking forward to being back on the field soon," wrote the 29th world rankings. She did not explain exactly which problem was to be resolved.

Due to the intervention, Vekic has already canceled her participation in the WTA 1000 event in Miami. The 24-year-old wants to return to one of the tournaments on ashes: "If everything goes well, I'll be back for the clay court season."

The first events on sand will start with the women on April 5th. From this point on, a WTA 500 tournament is on the program in Charleston, while a 250cc event will be held in Bogota at the same time.
