The two professionals faced each other on the center court of the DTB federal base in just under an hour and 20 minutes. And despite the clear result, it was anything but easy for Stebe: "I played a close match against him four years ago and knew that I had to be fully focused to win today. He fights for every ball. But it was a very good performance by me. " He only struggled with his service until the end, even though he converted the first match ball directly with an ace: "Unfortunately, the serve is still too inconsistent and I have put too few first in the field. I still have to improve that." Tomorrow he has the opportunity to do so in the last group game against Max Rehberg.

Rehberg's plan works

The German U16 champion Rehberg faced Johannes Harteis in the last match of the day. Both players had lost their first-hour matches on Tuesday and could no longer afford to lose in the race for the semi-finals. The fact that Rehberg ultimately had a clear 6: 3, 6: 2 win over the left-hander came as a bit of a surprise to outsiders, but not for him: "I improved significantly compared to yesterday and my plan to cross him with my forehand to deal with his backhand very well. " From the great frustration to the ultimately narrow defeat the previous day against Daniel Masur, there was nothing left to feel.

In the replacement location Mühlheim / Ruhr, favorite Oscar Otte prevailed against Nino Ehrenschneider with 6: 2 and 6: 2. Actually should have been played in Versmold, the lockdown in the district of Gütersloh had to be rescheduled at short notice. At TC Großhesselohe, French Open double champion Kevin Krawietz beat Peter Torebko 6: 4 and 6: 2. Maximilian Marterer then won against Julian Lenz with 6: 4 and 6: 4.

In Neuss, where, in contrast to Oberhaching and Großhesselohe, a limited contingent of spectators is allowed, Yannick Hanfmann narrowly won against Christoph Negritu with 6: 4 and 7: 6 (3).
