Franz Grillparzer, the great Austrian writer, declared in the 19th century that everyone should be happy in their own way. Likewise, looking at the statistics of the “Big Titles” on the ATP tour, it could be said that each of the three big players - Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal - is the best from a very specific point of view.

The focus is on the victories in Grand Slam tournaments, the ATP Finals and the Masters 1000 events. Those tournaments that have dominated Federer, Djokovic and Nadal for more than a decade.

When it comes to the sheer number of major titles, Roger Federer has again put a little more distance between himself and his fiercest pursuers with the success in Miami: The Swiss holds 54 triumphs, Djokovic at 52, Nadal at 50.

Djokovic needs the least tournaments

Novak Djokovic, in turn, can claim that he works most efficiently: on average, every 3.4 major tournaments, the Serbian industry leader carries the trophy home, followed closely by Rafael Nadal with 3.5. Roger Federer wins all 4.2 tournaments in a very large format.

Finally, Rafael Nadal has the edge in the ATP Masters 1000 tournaments. The Spaniard has 33 successes there, one more than Djokovic, Federer holds 30. And the chances that the man from Manacor will follow up in the coming week are excellent: at the four upcoming big tournaments in Monte Carlo, Madrid, Rome and above all Roland Garros Nadal has to be the big favorite.
