Roger Federer will win the Australian Open 2019 because ...

1) ... he doesn't want to leave all age records to Ivo Karlovic.

2) … the 100th tournament victory should be won by a major.

3) ... he is still in the shoes of his previous major victories.

4) ... the matches at the Hopman Cup showed the Maestro with ease in the early years.

5) ... he doesn't want to miss an on-court interview with Jim Courier.

Incidentally, the odds for a victory for Roger Federer are currently 5.25. Interwetten's top odds for the Australian Open are here!

This is what the draw says: In general, Federer is in good hands in the lower half of the tableau, as he saves himself a pre-final meeting with Novak Djokovic. Denis Istomin in round one is normally not a problem, afterwards there is a qualifier with Daniel Evans or Tatsuma Ito. Gael Monfils could be the first on the way to the seventh title, followed by Stefanos Tsitsipas. Marin Cilic would wait in the quarter-finals - there is a question mark about his fitness as well as behind Rafael Nadals, the designated semi-final opponent.
