Under the closed roof, something like a real competitive atmosphere develops even with just under 1,000 spectators on the Court Philippe-Chatrier. Especially when a local hero is at the start. After winning the first set against Sofia Kenin, Fiona Ferro could hope for a place in the quarter-finals with the audience behind her. Sofia Kenin, however, did not intend to simply leave this to the last French woman who remained in the tableau. Kenin had defeated Serena Williams on this place at the French Open 2019, now she moved into the round of the last eight with a 2: 6, 6: 2 and 6: 1.

Kenin still has to wait for her quarter-final opponent: The match between Ons Jabeur and Danielle Collins has been postponed to Tuesday, 11 a.m. By the way, Kenin is at the side of Bethanie Mattek-Sands in the quarter-finals as well.

Earlier on Monday, Petra Kvitova and Laura Siegemund had already prevailed in their round of 16 matches. The two will play against each other on Wednesday.
