The last of the three favorites announced before the French Open is still in the competition. After Ashleigh Barty said goodbye to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova due to an injury and Aryna Sabalenka with a poor performance, Iga Swiatek remains the second major of the year. The defending champion countered a strong start of her opponent Anett Kontaveit with a lot of power and finesse, won 7: 5 and 6: 0 and thus made it into the round of 16, where Swiatek meets Marta Kostyuk from the Ukraine. Kostyuk had no problems in the 6: 1 and 6: 2 against the Russian Varvara Gracheva.

Earlier on Saturday, Sloane Stephens, finalist on Roland Garros 2018, set the next exclamation mark with the success against Karolina Muchova. Previously, Stpehsn had already defeated Karolina Pliskova. The American now meets Barbora Krejcikova, who did not stay long with Elina Svitolina. Ons Jabeur is already in the round of 16. The Tunisian plays either against Jennifer Brady or Cori Gauff.
