Naomi Osaka was allowed to open the Court Philippe-Chatrier on Sunday and thus also the French Open 2021. And the four-time major winner almost failed at the start. Because Patricia Maria Tig resisted as best she could, Osaka finally won 6: 4 and 7: 6 (4). In round two Osaka will play again against a Romanian, Ana Bogdan, who was able to assert herself against Elisabetta Cocciaretto.

Osaka was already leading 5: 2 in the first set and only managed to close the sack 6: 4 in the second attempt. In the second round, a tie-break had to bring the decision, here too Naomi Osaka initially let slip a 5: 2 lead, but finally prevailed 7: 4.

Angelique Kerber , on the other hand, has already been eliminated. The German number one was defeated by the Ukrainian qualifier Anhelina Kalinina with 2: 6 and 4: 6.
