Badosa will start third in Paris and had some problems with Kaja Juvan. In the first match on the Suzanne-Lenglen court, Badosa ultimately prevailed 7:5, 3:6 and 6:2. Badosa meets Veronika Kudermetova of Russia in round three.

There was nothing to get for the number eight of the tournament, Karolina Pliskova. The Czech, who started the 2022 season late due to an injury, lost 6-2 and 6-2 to French wildcard Leolie Jeanjean. Jeanjean, 26 years old, is only 227th in the current WTA world rankings.

Tournament favorite Iga Swiatek will play against Alison Riske from the USA later on Thursday.
