Aryna Sabalenka started befittingly against Camila Giorgio on the Simonne-Mathieu court and won the first set 6:4. After that, however, the Italian turned up the heat and only gave her opponent one more game. Giorgi plays after the 4: 6, 6: 1 and 6: 0 in the round of 16 against the 20th seeded Daria Kasatkina. The Russian safely defeated Shelby Rogers from the USA 6:3 and 6:2.
Paula Badosa, number three of the tournament, seemed to be on the right track against Veronika Kudermetova. Towards the end of the first set, however, the Spaniard injured herself. And had to give up when the score was 3:6 and 1:2. Kudermetova meets the winner of the match between Elena Rybakina and Madison Keys.
As the only player from the top ten, tournament favorite Iga Swiatek is still in the running. The Pole had a surprising number of problems in the 6: 3 and 7: 5 against Danka Kovinic. And now has to fight Irina Camelia Begu for a place in the quarterfinals.
