Daria Kasatkina won the quarterfinal duel between two Russians at the French Open against Veronika Kudermetova and is in the semifinals in Paris for the first time. The 25-year-old prevailed 6: 4, 7: 6 (7: 5) on Wednesday and can continue to be her country's first winner in Roland Garros since Maria Sharapova 2014.
Kasatkina is now challenging the world number one and clear tournament favorite Iga Swiatek from Poland or Jessica Pegula from the USA in a duel for a ticket to the final. The second semi-final is contested by the unseeded Italian Martina Trevisan and the only 18-year-old Coco Gauff from the USA.
