Disappointment for Jurij Rodionov: The Austrian number one was eliminated in the second round of the French Open qualifier against Pavel Kotov. The 23-year-old had to face the world number 143. Pavel Kotov was beaten 6:7 (7) and 4:6 after a hard fight.
In the women's category, Julia Grabher, the only Austrian representative, also failed at the second hurdle. The Vorarlberger lost to Hailey Baptiste 6: 1, 3: 6 and 2: 6.
From a red-white-red point of view, only Sebastian Ofner has the chance to keep Dominic Thiem company in the main field. The Styrian easily beat Aleksandar Vukic 6:2 and 6:4 on Wednesday and meets Alessandro Giannessi on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the last round.
