French Open qualification: Jurij Rodionov opens against Marterer, Philipp Kohlschreiber against Couacaud

Nine Austrians and Germans will start in the qualification for the French Open starting on Monday. Five of them are set to work at the Bois de Bolougne - three matches have to be won to secure a starting place in the main draw. This will start on May 22nd.

Austria's freshly crowned number one, Jurij Rodionov, will face Maximlian Marterer in the only German-Austrian duel. The winner meets the winner in the duel between Grenier and Kotov in the second qualifying round, possible opponent in the final round is the Spanish veteran champion Feliciano Lopez.

Novak vs Giustino

Austria's number two, Dennis Novak, will face Italy's Lorenzo Giustino in the first qualifying round. Two-round opponent is the winner in the duel Sousa/Purcell. In the third and final round, sixth seeded Radu Albot is a possible opponent.

Yannick Hanfmann, who was ninth in the qualification, meets the Indian Ramkumar Ramanathan at the start. The opponent in the second round will be determined in a purely French duel between the two wildcards Tabur/Cuenin. According to the seed list, the opponent in the final qualification is the Italian veteran Andreas Seppi.

Kohlschreiber meets local hero

With Philipp Kohlschreiber, Germany is also sending a veteran into the race - the Augsburger will meet local hero Enzo Couacaud at the start. In the duel between Van Rijthoven/Gomez, the opponent will be determined in the second round, in the final qualifying round Norbert Gombos stands in the way according to the seed list.

Cedrik Marcel Stebe will start with Kasper Zuk, in the second round it could go against the seeded Juan-Manuel Cerundolo. In the final qualifying round, Chun-Hsin Tseng would be a scheduled opponent.

Ofner and Moraing in the same grid

Daniel Masur meets the American Jack Sock, who starts the race as number 14. De Jong and Kopriva will determine their second round opponents among themselves, while Brit Liam Broady could wait in the third qualifying round.

Mats Moraing and Sebastian Ofner, meanwhile, have been drawn into the same grid. The German meets Alessandro Gianessi at the start, Ofner opens against Jay Clarke. The Austrian could meet Aleksandar Vukic from Australia in round two, Moraing could meet local hero Pierre-Hughes Herbert.
