French Open qualification: Schunk and Gerlach follow Niemeier, Siegemund in round two
After Jule Niemeier and Laura Siegemund , Nastasja Schunk and Katharina Gerlach have also reached the second round of the qualifying tournament for the French Open 2022.

Gerlach won 7:6 (4) and 6:4 against the former top ten player Coco Vandeweghe, who was in 22nd place. In round two she meets the Japanese Yuki Naito. Nastasja Schunk had bigger problems with Laura Pigossi, but eventually won 7:5, 3:6 and 6:3. Schunk now plays against Veronica Cepede Royg, who was only able to prevail against Anastasia Tikhonova in the match tiebreak of the third set.
Laura Siegemund and Jule Niemeier had already qualified for the second qualifying round in Roland Garros on Monday. Siegemund will play fourth-placed Xiyu Wang from China, while Niemeier will play Jessika Ponchet from France.
