Akugue beat Maria Carlé 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 to reach the final of the W60 tournament in the Czech capital. In the final she meets Reka Luca Jani on Sunday.

In the quarterfinals, Akugue had eliminated the top seeded Julia Grabher, number 120 in the WTA ranking.

The 18-year-old from Reinbek near Hamburg is continuing her great summer 2022. In May she won tournaments in Cairo and reached the final once, most recently in Hechingen and Braunschweig. In the live ranking, Akugue is currently ranked 302 - strong! Especially since she was still outside the top 1000 in April due to injury after a long break.

Because Akugue had won the German Championships in December 2020, at the age of just 17, after victories over Jule Niemeier and Nastasja Schunk, among other things.
